Story:
Read what the Executive Director of the North Dakota Council on the Arts have to say about Arts Midwest:
As the Executive Director of the North Dakota Council on the Arts I see first hand what an impact Arts Midwest makes across the region. Specifically, Arts Midwest World Fest allows rural communities to participate in rich global arts experiences, experiences that would normally be far too costly for rural North Dakota to afford.
Arts Midwest is well recognized regionally, nationally and internationally for its work with global projects, specifically music and literature. The NEA has repeatedly relied on Arts Midwest to manage national programs such as Shakespeare in America and The Big Read. The leadership of David Fraher and Susan Chandler is without equal. Their partnership is outstanding and has resulted in an organization and staff that the entire region is proud of.

This is a regional arts association, supported by the NEA that serves as a resource for arts performances and exhibitions for the nine member states in the upper Midwest. The organization is also part of the national network of arts associations that work together on national initiatives, such as the NEA's Big Read project. Programming includes an annual conference for performing artists and presenters, a regional learning exchange for regional organizations, support for week-long international artist residencies in small communities, as well as a variety of smaller convening, publications, and performances throughout the region.

Stronger connections between diverse programs would help solidify the organization's identity. A more developed plan to support the eventual retirement of the organization's founder would also be welcome.
